"Did he blow up his ACL or MCL?" I was thinking loudly. David asked if my clinic was open Sunday. I said, "we are closed on Sundays but would accept emergency patients. He immediately said, "Okay, great! My teammate just dislocated his pinky finger a few minutes ago. Can you please help?" said David. As I knew a case like this would have to wait for a couple of hours at emergency room and the patient might not even have insurance. Without even checking in with my little son, I told them to meet with me in 20 minutes at my home instead of clinic.
As I arrived at the parking lot of my complex, I saw a 7 footer standing by a vehicle waving to me. After a quick exam of his dislocated left pinky, I swiftly put his finger back in a matter of seconds and added a couple of needles for pain and swelling reduction. For safety concern, I suggested he return to my clinic the next day for additional treatment and ordered xrays to rule of fracture. He was very thankful for saving his time and money, most importantly his finger.
